A local brewery is prepared to honor a music legend this year.
Sheboygan’s 3 Sheeps Brewing Company, in partnership with the Les Paul Foundation, will be holding a battle of the bands competition in 2026 with major prizes on the line.
The battle of the bands is set for four preliminary competitions, with a final championship round to crown a winner.
Currently, the virtual battle is underway and will continue through May 25th.
Subsequent battles will be held on July 11th at the Milwaukee Vivarium, on July 25th at Harmony Bar in Madison, and at Appleton’s Gibson Music Hall on July 25th.
The battle of the bands event will culminate with the championship round, which will be held on August 15th at 3 Sheeps in Sheboygan.
The winner of the competition will be sent to Los Angeles, California, to record at the Les Paul Recording Studio, surrounded by some of the music icon’s own original recording gear, and receive $3,000.
This partnership and competition are part of a continuing tradition for the brewery, which aims to honor one Wisconsinite through their beer Wisconsinitis.
Last year, and the first ever honoree, was NFL and Packers Hall of Famer LeRoy Butler.
