The Kiel girls’ soccer team may still be undefeated, but they do now have one blemish on an otherwise perfect record.
The Raiders traveled to Green Bay last night to take on fellow powerhouse Notre Dame, which ended up being a back-and-forth, highly competitive affair between two of the best programs in the area.
In the end, neither team could secure the win, ending the game in a 2-2 tie.
Deanna Schwaller helped open up the scoring with a stellar pass to Piper Goodman, who found the back of the net.
The Tritons would strike back with a pair of goals, only the 6th and 7th goals allowed by the Raiders this season, giving Notre Dame the lead as time was winding down.
But, Taavi Saeger showed off her passing ability, finding Jasmine Bink on a corner run, and Bink slammed home the game-tying goal with 3 minutes left.
Kiel Head Coach Mike Pritchard had nothing but praise for everyone on the pitch, saying, “Tonight was a privilege to play one of the elite programs in the state of Wisconsin, and we proved we can play with the best of the best. We found our mojo in this match tonight that will inspire us on another run to state.”
Up next for the 13-0-1 Raiders will be a home game against New Holstein on Thursday, which will also serve as Senior Night.
