Charges have been made official, and bail has been set for a man arrested for drunk driving over the weekend.
64-year-old Mark R. Wuellner was present in court yesterday (May 11th), where Court Commissioner Jewel Scharenbroch gave him a $500 cash bail.
Wuellner has received this bail after being charged with Operating While Under the Influence, a fifth such offense.
This charge follows the 64-year-old’s arrest on Saturday (May 9th) after a three-car accident at the intersection of South 10th Street and Columbus Street.
Once police arrived on the scene, they quickly observed Wuellner showing multiple signs of intoxication, including “incredibly slurred” speech, a strong odor of alcohol, and an inability to complete Standard Field Sobriety Tests.
While speaking to Manitowoc Police, he also admitted to drinking a 12-pack of beer prior to getting behind the wheel.
For these reasons, he was placed into custody and charged with OWI, 5th.
Wuellner’s most recent conviction for OWI came in 2010, also taking place in Manitowoc County.
Additional terms of his bail include maintaining absolute sobriety and he is not allowed to operate a motor vehicle.
He will return to court on May 18th for his initial appearance in Branch 1 at 1:30 p.m.
