An area organization will receive a share of state funding from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).
$5 million in Talent Recruitment Grants will be given to 17 communities and organizations to help strengthen the state’s workforce by bringing new workers and families.
That includes the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce, which will receive $250,000 for the Make Your Mark talent attraction and retention program.
It’s a multi-channel, data-driven recruitment strategy that places a full-time support specialist to guide new residents on housing, healthcare, and community resources.
The funding ensures that out-of-state talent doesn’t just fill a vacancy but helps people build a life in Wisconsin.
Other cities in eastern Wisconsin, including Appleton and Oshkosh, will also receive a portion of the $5 million.
WEDC CEO John Miller says the Talent Recruitment Grants will make it easier for families looking to relocate to find jobs that fit their skills and allow them to grow in communities where they feel at home.
