A motorcyclist was airlifted from the scene of a crash in Manitowoc County over the weekend.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of County Road J and Roselawn Road in the Town of Liberty at 11:45 Saturday evening on a report of a motorcycle crash.
Responding deputies learned that a 54-year-old man from Liberty was riding his motorcycle east on Roselawn Road when he failed to stop at the stop sign at County Road J.
After clearing the intersection, the motorcycle entered the ditch, struck a sign and a field access, sending the man flying off the bike.
The man, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, sustained potentially life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Theda Clark Medical Center. Valders Ambulance, Valders Fire Department, Theda Star, and HI-WAY 42 Garage also responded to the scene.
Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig issued a reminder to all motorcycle operators and passengers to always “wear appropriate safety equipment, including helmets, eye protection, protective clothing, gloves, and proper footwear whenever riding.”
