The Clipper City Chordsmen are getting ready to celebrate Schmitt Brothers’ history again.
This year is the 75th anniversary of the Two Rivers quartet taking the world by storm by winning the International Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America title back in 1951.
The event, Harmony Lives on the Schmitt Brothers Stage, will take place on Saturday, July 18th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Central Park West.
The Clipper City Chordsmen will host other a cappella groups to sing on stage, including the Land O’Lakes District Champion Forward Harmony, UW-Madison’s What’s New, and 2025 Wisconsin Youth Harmony Festival High School Champion Quad Aces, among others.
Several community organizations and businesses will help celebrate the milestone with the Two Rivers Rotary Club selling food and beverages.
The Washington House will also offer the Schmitt Brothers Signature Sundae from noon until 6:00 p.m. on that Saturday.
Jim, Joe, Paul, and Fran Schmitt worked together to spread harmony everywhere they performed during their 35-year career.
They performed on major stages across the country, as well as on the Ed Sullivan, Arthur Godfrey, and Lawrence Welk shows.
