An area senior living community is celebrating the completion of a new activity area.
Felician Village held a ribbon-cutting with the Chamber of Manitowoc County for a new patio and bar that has been opened.
Director of Development Renee Thompson thanked all the sponsors and contributors who helped fund construction of the new area, saying that, while it wasn’t required, enough people wanted it to get it done.
She hopes the new area will be better for activities.
“They were out here in the parking lot,” she recalled. “The winds would come through, and they would sail and the tents would come down and the maintenance guys would have to go pick up the chairs and the tables and all that kind of stuff.”
Cutting the ribbon on the ribbon was Felician Village’s longest tenured resident, Pete Stuntz, who Marketing Director Megan Bruckschen says was a highlight of Thursday’s event.
Residents asked some questions.
She noted, “But now that it’s all come together, we’re seeing a lot of excitement building, and we’re looking forward to a summer full of events.”
Another fundraiser for the patio and bar was Mrs. Roper’s Romp, which was held at the Inn on Maritime Bay for two years.
In total, about $200,000 was raised to complete the project.
Bruckschen says she is very happy with how everything turned out.
“It looks like a total different place that’s modern and welcoming,” she explained. “And all of the variety of things that we can do at Felician Village.”
The area will be used for community concerts and other events.
The patio and bar are located just behind the Garden’s at Felician Village building.
