A Wrightstown man who fled from Manitowoc Police has been sentenced.
20-year-old James B. Mortensen pleaded guilty to two counts of Fleeing or Eluding an Officer and one count of Operating Without a Valid License, and was ordered by Judge Mark Rohrer to spend one year in prison followed by two years on extended supervision to go along with a $280 fine.
Additional charges of operating Without a Valid License, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, and two counts of Fleeing or Eluding an Officer were dismissed but read into the record.
Mortensen was arrested on December 26th, 2024, after he refused to cooperate with police during a traffic stop related to an illegal tint.
While the officers were speaking with him, Mortensen stepped on the gas and was lost in the fog.
He was later located by Two Rivers Police and Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Deputies, but he was able to flee from them successfully as well.
He was finally taken into custody when he was found in a home in Two Rivers.
As a part of his extended supervision, Mortensen was ordered to maintain absolute sobriety, maintain full-time employment, schooling, work search, or a combination, to undergo anger management, and had his license revoked for six months.
