Sheboygan County residents are encouraged to support those facing hunger throughout the community this weekend.
The National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive will take place tomorrow (May 9th) and serves as the largest single-day food drive in the U.S.
Residents are invited to place non-perishable food items in bags next to their mailboxes tomorrow, and local mail carriers will collect them on their assigned routes.
Donations collected in Sheboygan, Howards Grove, and the Village of Kohler will be donated to the Sheboygan County Food Bank to help fill the shelves at the Sheboygan Cares Pantry during the summer months.
This year, the Food Bank has set out to collect 30,000 pounds of food during Stamp Out Hunger.
The most in-need items the Food Bank is looking to collect include oatmeal, canned soup, chicken, tuna, and fruit, pasta and pasta sauce, and personal care items.
The Sheboygan County Food Bank noted, “Every donation makes a difference for our neighbors who need our support. Thank you for helping us keep our community nourished!”
