A long-running tradition of environmentalism in Sheboygan has been renewed.
The City of Sheboygan has once again been named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.
This recognition honors the City’s longstanding commitment to planting, growing, and maintaining trees throughout the community.
This recognition also marks the 48th consecutive year the Arbor Day Foundation has named Sheboygan a Tree City USA, the longest-running streak for any municipality across the entire state of Wisconsin.
Likewise, Sheboygan has also been recognized as a Tree City of the World for six consecutive years, topping the list for all cities in the state.
In addition to these distinctions, Sheboygan has also received a Growth Award, which is awarded to municipalities that demonstrate improved levels of tree care and community engagement.
To celebrate these accolades, the Sheboygan Area School District will be hosting a ceremonial tree planting at Lincoln Erdman Elementary School, located at 4101 North 50th Street.
The tree planting will be held tomorrow at 8:00 a.m., and the public is encouraged to join and celebrate.
