The Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team is still within striking distance of the FRCC title as they picked up a dominant win last night.
The Ships invaded Green Bay Southwest, where they knocked off the Trojans 16-4.
After a one run 1st inning, the Ships’ bats came alive, plating 10 runs in the second, and 4 more int he 3rd.
A 1 run 4th was the last of the offense for Lincoln as they cruised to a 12 run win. Of the 21 hits the Ships offense had, nine of them went for extra bases.
Benson Dickrell had a night to remember as he went 3 for 3 with a single, a triple, and a home run, coming a double away from the cycle.
Nearly every Lincoln player who went to bat came out with a hit, and all but a couple made it all the way around the base path.
Three different pitchers split time on the mound, with Turner Sorenson taking to the bump for the first two innings, where he struck out a pair while giving up two hits.
Cameron Shilts had one inning of relief, where he gave up four runs on 3 hits, but Josh Valleskey was able to calm things down with two innings of two-hit ball.
With the win, the Ships sit 4 games behind FRCC, leading Bay Port at 7-4, but are in a prime position to make up some of that ground tomorrow.
The Pirates are invading Bruce Steinbecker Field for a double header, with the first game starting at 10:00 a.m.
