Alton Clyson Lewis, age 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, May 4th, 2026 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was born on September 29th, 1950 to the late Gordon Eldred Lewis Jr. and Mildred Ella Kenney in New London, Connecticut.
Al proudly served as a Navy Submariner from 1969-1975, and was a lifelong employee of the Point Beach Nuclear Plant in Two Creeks, WI and a long-time member of the St. Peter the Fisherman Parish Community in Two Rivers, WI. He always sang in church choirs throughout his adult life, bringing God’s hymns to all. He was a devout man who loved his family, and following retirement from the Nuclear Plant also taught CCD to the youth of St. Peter the Fisherman. During summers you would always find Al rowing his kids, then grandkids, on the Menominee River in Iron Mountain, MI, fishing and pulling the kids/grandkids’ lures out of the trees. His voice was always filled with laughter and a song that brought joy to all.
Al will be deeply missed by his family who loved him dearly; wife, Cecelia; children Douglass (Michelle) Lewis, Karianne (Darrell) Scheppman, William (Anne) Lewis, Edward Lewis, Timothy Lewis, Allysa (Jeff) Schermetzler, Liz Johnson, and Alexander (Keia) Lewis. He is further survived by his grandchildren Morgan (Connor) Keeler, Eloise and Samantha Scheppman, Isaac and Odin Lewis, and great-grandchild Parker Lewis, as well as his siblings Deborah (John) Nutter, Cliff (Shirley) Lewis, Stephen (Sue) Lewis, and Rebecca (Brent) Snowden. Al was preceded in death by Gordon Jr. and Mildred, his parents, his sister Rhonda, and his brother Randolphe.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish, 3201 Mishicot Road, Two Rivers. Rev. David Pleier will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Military honors will immediately follow at the church and be accorded by combined Honor Guard VFW Post 1248 and American Legion Robert E. Burns Post 165 Two Rivers.
Those who knew Al well would always hear him cantoring at church on Sundays, then each day of the week. Those who knew him best would hear him singing all hours of the day, from Under the Sea to O’ Holy Night. We’ll miss you dad and love you forever.
