A gathering space in Downtown Sheboygan will be brought back next week.
The City of Sheboygan’s Department of Public Works has shared that the Uptown Parklet, located on St. Clair Avenue between North 8th Street and North 9th Street, will be put in place starting on Monday (May 11th).
This continues the tradition of closing off a portion of the street in order to transform the space into a designated public area.
On what people can expect at the parklet this year, the DPW stated, “On-site amenities include lighting, standard and ADA-accessible picnic tables, café tables and chairs, regular and curved benches, landscaping planters, umbrellas, and trash receptacles.”
It is also intended to be a space that reimagines the area while encouraging non-motorized transportation in the city.
With the reintroduction of the Uptown Parklet, St. Clair Avenue between 8th and 9th Streets will be closed off to traffic until the space is torn down in the fall on November 15th.
As a public facility, the Uptown Parklet will be available as a reservable space for events over the next six months.
However, reservations must be made via a special event application, which can be found online by visiting sheboyganwi.gov.
