A battle of the titans on the pitch delivered as promised.
The unbeaten Kiel Raiders hosted fellow local powerhouse Sheboygan Falls last night, with first place in the EWC on the line.
Kiel coach Mike Pritchard admitted his team’s defense was tested, but they stuck together and earned a 2-1 win.
The Raiders opened up the scoring with a Deanna Schwaller goal, which was the result of what Coach Pritchard called “a perfect steal.”
The Falcons would retaliate in the second half with a goal off a corner kick, only the third goal allowed all year by Kiel.
But the tie was short-lived. Taavi Saeger connected with Jasmine Bink just a few short minutes later to take the lead, which the Raiders never gave up.
Maya Langenfeld ended the night with four saves in net as the Raiders improved to 10-0 on the season and 4-0 in the EWC.
Kiel, which is currently ranked the #10 team in the state and 304th in the country, will be right back in action tonight, as they travel to Kohler to face the Blue Bombers.
As for Sheboygan Falls, they are now 7-2-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
They will have a couple of days to recover before traveling to Oostburg on Friday.
