For the seventh year in a row, WOMT has been named the Medium Market Station of the Year by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.
WOMT had several representatives on hand at the 2026 Awards of Distinction Gala in Madison Saturday night, where they accepted the Station of the Year honor, along with the 2025 News Operation of the Year award.
Along with the major awards, WOMT received eight first-place awards in multiple categories, including Best Spot News for a story with Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig on immigration arrests.
The News Department also received a first place award for Best News Writing for its report on the restoration of a vintage plane at the Manitowoc County Airport.
The News Department’s third 1st place award was for Best Digital Story Presentation for a story on Josh Jacobs beginning his second year as a Green Bay Packer.
WOMT was also given a first place honor for the live report on the return of the S.S. Badger.
SeehaferNews.com was also named the Best Website in the state.
The final news award was for Best Use of Audio for the report on the USS Cobia departing for drydocking.
The News Department was not the only group to earn first-place honors, as The Jim and Rick Show – After the Show Podcast was selected as the Best Podcast in the state.
The Advertising Department was honored with producing the Best Public Service Announcement for the Manitowoc County Recycling Center.
And they let their funny side show in a promo for Sputnik Fest, which was named the Best Humorous Commercial.
In addition to the first-place awards, WOMT also received seven runner-up honors and eight third-place awards.
Lake98.1 also received three first-place awards for Best Humorous Commercial, Best Podcast, and Best PSA, to go along with two second-place awards and four third-place honors.
