A federal fraud prevention bill penned by Eastern Wisconsin’s representative in Congress has taken its first step towards becoming law.
Congressman Glenn Grothman’s Federal Fraud Prevention Workforce Training Act has passed in the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and can now go before Congress for approval.
The bill, which was co-written by Illinois Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, looks to establish a government-wide training program to better equip federal employees to identify fraud risks, implement proven anti-fraud practices, and safeguard taxpayer-funded programs.
Rep. Grothman says while fraud continues to be a problem, “we are working to implement stronger oversight at every level.”
Kentucky Representative James Comer, the Chair of the Committee, thanked Rep. Grothman for introducing the bill, saying it “recognizes this growing challenge and helps fortify the financial defenses of our federal programs against bad actors.”
