A local State Assemblyman recently took some time to help out future educators.
26th District Assemblyman Joe Sheehan of Sheboygan was recently at Sheboygan South High School, where he spoke to students in an educational psychology class.
Rep. Sheehan noted that, as a former educator himself, he is always eager to speak to and teach the next generation of minds that want to become teachers themselves.
He also added, “During my visit, we discussed concrete policy solutions to help end the current teacher shortage, both through incentivizing our young generations to enter the profession and providing necessary resources for teachers once they have solidified their careers.”
Rep. Sheehan also discussed legislative efforts he’s undertaken that aim to improve the state’s education system.
These included AB-48, a free school lunch bill, and AB-1148, an effort to pay student teachers more as they prepare to enter the workforce.
He then finished by stating, “I am extremely grateful that I had the opportunity to attend this event, and I am so impressed by the insights that our students offered in our discussion.”
