Comic Book Day is for fans of all ages. On Saturday, May 2, from 9 AM-1 PM, you can enjoy the following activities at Manitowoc Public Library:
- Used Comic Book Sale
Buy a used comic book for just 25¢ each! Take your pick of titles from Marvel and DC to add to your collection.
We’re also giving away a limited number of free First Little Comics, buttons, stickers, and trading cards. Limit one per person and available while supplies last!
- Costume Contest
Dress up in your favorite Comic Book or Manga inspired outfit and participate in our Costume Contest! We’ll take your picture and post it to our Facebook. Whoever gets the most likes over the next week will win an LED Mask! You can enter solo or bring your super friends but be aware that only one LED mask will be awarded.
- Scavenger Hunt
Use the clues to find hidden comic book characters throughout the library. Each one carries a letter of a Secret Code—decipher the message to win a small prize and earn a raffle ticket for a Grand Prize!
Grand Prizes include Graphic Novels, Comic-themed Trading Cards, and custom-made Comic Keychains!
Two scavenger hunts will be available: famous “Comic Book Duos” in the second floor Youth Services Department and “Comic Books through the Decades” on the Main Floor. They’re a fun way to learn about comic history and library amenities. Everyone is welcome to do one or both!
- “Comic Books through the Decades” Classic Comic Display
Featuring items from the last century of comics, this display of collectables is a fantastic way to experience the legacy of the art form. Each comic represents a different decade of comic book history.
Manitowoc Public Library thanks Bob Kujawski for loaning these incredible pieces of his collection. “Comic Books through the Decades” is up now and available for public viewing through Monday, May 18.
- Arts and Crafts
For younger kids, Superhero Mask making and coloring sheets will be available in the Youth Services Department.
- Make Your Mark Share Your Art
We’ll also be taking pictures for our “Make Your Mark Share Your Art” Bookmark decorating program. For details visit Make Your Mark Share Your Art on our website.
Bring your friends and family to this amazing celebration of comic book history. Cosplay as your favorite character, explore the library, and maybe pick up a comic or two. Assemble at Manitowoc Public Library on Saturday, May 2, between 9 AM and 1 PM for Comic Book Day 2026!
