The Port of Manitowoc will be getting $20 million in federal grants.
The funding is a part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and annual funding legislation.
Senator Tammy Baldwin advocated for the funding’s inclusion, which will help the port handle grain shipments more efficiently.
The City of Manitowoc and project partners Briess Malt & Ingredients, Co, and Briess affiliate Grainshore LLC will utilize this federal funding through the Midwest Multi-Modal Development Project to update port infrastructure, increase storage capacity, and improve how grain is stored and moved between ships, trains, and trucks.
Senator Baldwin said she is “proud to bring home this investment for the City of Manitowoc,” while Mayor Justin Nickels noted, “This $20 million Port Infrastructure Development Program award highlights Briess’ strength as a company and the substantial growth opportunities they’re advancing in Manitowoc.”
