An award-winning quartet wowed students in Manitowoc County.
Clipper City Chordsmen President Don Lewellen tells Seehafernews.com that Instant Classic, the 2015 International Championship Barbershop Quartet from Indianapolis, performed on April 17th and held workshops at both Roncalli and Valders High School.
A total of 430 students from 5th grade through high school participated.
In addition, the Fantastic Forte girls’ quartet from Two Rivers High School performed at Roncalli as part of a morning workshop.
Instant Classic also gave a fun explanation of what makes barbershop a special kind of a cappella singing while teaching youth to sing together and have everyone in the room experience the joy of making a chord lock together in perfect harmony.
The quartet was also treated to a tour of the Schmitt Brothers Stage in Two Rivers, where they sang a song from the Brothers’ first album as an homage to the 75th anniversary of the Schmitt Brothers winning the International Quartet title back in 1951.
Instant Classic is made up of Theo Hicks, Kyle Kitzmiller, Kohl Kitzmiller, and David Zimmerman, who’ve been singing together for 17 years.
