Local and state agriculture agencies are urging motorists to keep safety in mind on the roadway.
As planting season is underway for farmers across the state, the Sheboygan County Planning and Conservation Department and the Wisconsin DATCP are reminding drivers to slow down, be cautious, and be aware of farm vehicles.
For non-farmers, be patient when approaching farm vehicles and keep in mind that it is illegal to pass agricultural equipment in no-passing zones.
Additionally, once in a passing zone and legally passing, it is important to consider the possibility of the farm vehicle making a left-hand turn.
For farmers on the roadway, both agencies are reminding that safety and visibility must be at the forefront.
This can be accomplished by ensuring all of your farm vehicles that make it on the road have the proper signage and appropriate lights.
For all drivers locally and statewide, these simple tips can increase safety on roadways for farmers and the public alike.
