Sheboygan County residents will have the chance to get rid of their unwanted medications this weekend.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health has said that there will be four sites participating in the National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday (April 28th) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Locations include HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital at 3100 Superior Avenue in Sheboygan, Generations in Plymouth located at 1500 Douglas Drive, the Random Lake Fire Department at 718 Spring Street, and the Sheboygan Falls Police Department located at 375 Buffalo Street.
On the importance of these kinds of events, the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health stated, “Drug Take Back Day events encourage the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.”
Items to be accepted include prescription and over-the-counter medications for both humans and pets, as well as vape devices with the batteries removed.
When arriving at any of the four drop-off sites, participants are asked to remain in their vehicles, and a volunteer will come to collect their medications.
Anyone looking to dispose of unwanted or unnecessary medications in a safe, convenient manner is encouraged to participate.
