An area utility company has been recognized for its operational safety.
Plymouth Utilities was named as a National Safety Award of Excellence winner for their work in 2025 by the American Public Power Association (APPA).
Plymouth Utilities earned this distinction during APPA’s Engineering and Operations Conference held from March 29th to April 1st.
On earning this distinction, Plymouth’s Utilities Manager Tim Blakeslee said, “The well-being of our workers is vital to keep our utility running at its best. This award shows that we work hard to ensure everyone gets home safely.”
Each year, public utility companies are placed into categories based on their number of worker hours and safe operating practices, taking into account each organization’s overall state of safety programs and incident-free records.
In 2025, Plymouth Utilities ranked amongst the best across the entire United States.
When addressing all Safety Award of Excellence Award winners, APPA Safety Committee Chair Jon Beasely said, “These Safety Award recipients stand as proof that commitment and consistency save lives, strengthen communities, and set the benchmark for our entire industry.”
During the Engineering and Operations Conference, Manitowoc Public Utilities was also honored, having been named a recipient of the National Excellence in Reliability Award for an 11th consecutive year.
