The Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team was able to hold off Green Bay Preble to get back to .500 on the season.
The Ships were visiting the Hornets last night in an FRCC battle, and it looked as though Lincoln was going to run away with it.
The Ships turned hits from Turner Sorenson and Nick Braun into 4 runs through the first four innings, and plated a 5th at the top of the 5th inning.
Then, the Hornets stung back. A three run bottom of the 5th breathed life back into the Preble squad, but Gabe Eichmann took the mound and shut down any chance at a comeback.
Eichmann struck out three batters in the final 2 frames, earning the save, while Bennet Johnson earned the win for his 6 strikeout, 5 inning performance.
The win brings the Ships back to an even 5-5 overall and 3-3 in the FRCC, good for 5th place.
They will take the next two days to recover from a busy four games in four days before hosting Green Bay Southwest at Bruce Steinbecker Field on Friday.
