After getting no tax on tips passed at the federal level, a local Republican is continuing to fight for “No Tax on Overtime.”
Sixth District Congressman Glenn Grothman spoke on the U.S. House Floor against Democrats who are fighting the Working Families Tax Cut, better known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
He says they’ve tried to “muddy the waters,” but to the Glenbeulah Republican, it’s very straightforward that Americans who work extra hours are receiving bigger paychecks.
He said emphatically, “Overtime is for the working man. And when we cut taxes on overtime, it is obviously designed to benefit the working man. Who gets tips? The working man, the working woman. That’s who’s getting tips.
Rep. Grothman continues saying that the Democratic narrative doesn’t match what the policy actually does for Americans.
He concludes by saying that working families deserve a tax system that respects their efforts, supports their goals, and makes life more affordable.
Work is continuing in the U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means through a resolution expressing support for tax policies that put working families first.
Grothman says it recognizes the importance of the Working Families Tax Cut, which delivers lower taxes for families, workers, and seniors, allowing middle-class Americans to keep more of what they earn.
