BASEBALL
After a disappointing trip to Fond Du Lac yesterday, the Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team gets back on the bus this afternoon to battle a very good Green Bay Preble team in FRCC play. Both teams are looking to bounce back after conference losses last Friday. The Ships (2-3 in conference and 4-5 overall) fell at home to Pulaski 3-1, while the Hornets (4-1 in the FRCC and overall) were upended by De Pere 5-3.
The first pitch at Joannes Park is scheduled to be thrown at 4:30 p.m.
The Kiel Raiders look to remain undefeated as they host Roncalli this afternoon. The Raiders had five of their first nine games either canceled or postponed due to weather, but in the four they’ve played, they’ve won, most recently a 9-2 victory over Chilton last Friday (April 17th). Roncalli began the year winning their first three, then dropped two straight games to New Holstein in conference play by identical 9 to 5 scores before bouncing back to defeat Peshtigo in non-conference play on Monday.
Today’s Manitowoc Lutheran, Reedsville game scheduled for Reedsville has been moved to Manitowoc Lutheran and will start at 5 p.m.
Elsewhere, Chilton travels to Valders, Two Rivers is at Brillion, Mishicot travels to Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah, Random Lake looks to remain undefeated (8-0) as they head to Howards Grove, Sheboygan North is home for FRCC leading Bay Port, Sheboygan Lutheran looks for their first win at Cedar Grove/Belgium, Kohler/Sheboygan Christian entertains Ozaukee, Denmark is scheduled to host Clintonville, Hilbert heads to Fox Crossing to battle St. Mary Catholic, Kewaunee hosts Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy, Green Bay East/West visits Winneconne, Green Bay Southwest is at Ashwaubenon, Notre Dame Academy of Green Bay heads to Pulaski, De Pere battles crosstown rival West De Pere at West De Pere, Bonduel plays at Southern Door and Little Chute plays host to The Luxemburg Casco Spartans.
SOFTBALL
The girls’ softball schedule includes Valders playing their second straight EWC Game in as many days as they travel to Kiel to battle the Raiders. Both teams look to rebound from conference losses on Monday night. The Vikings lost at home to conference-leading New Holstein 6 -0, while the Raiders fell to Chilton 9-7.
Elsewhere, Manitowoc Lincoln looks to right the ship as they travel to UW-Green Bay to battle Notre Dame Academy, Manitowoc Lutheran has a Big East Road date with Reedsville, and Mishicot heads to Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah to battle the Resorters.
GIRLS SOCCER
After a tough nine-match stretch to begin the season, the Manitowoc Lincoln girls’ soccer team opens FRCC play tonight, hosting Notre Dame Academy at Rubick Field.
The Ships went 4-4-1 during that stretch against quality competition, with head coach Ethan Jones praising his defense and goalkeeper Julie Sieracki for keeping the Ships in matches. Also, senior forward Sara Bolchen recently became the program’s all-time goal scorer with 52, surpassing the previous mark of 50. Notre Dame is one of the premier programs in the state and is off to a 6-1 start, with four of their wins coming via shutout.
The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Manitowoc Lutheran is scheduled to play its home opener this afternoon against Kewaunee. The Lancers have lost their first two matches of the season, both on the road at New Holstein and Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah. Match time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
Other matches have Sheboygan North visiting Green Bay Preble, Green Bay Southwest heads to De Pere, West De Pere hosts Bay Port, Kohler entertains Howards Grove, Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian hosts Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah, Ozaukee/Random Lake travels to Oostburg, Cedar Grove Belgium entertains St. Mary Catholic, Ashwaubenon makes a road trip to Pulaski and Luxemburg Casco has a home date with the Wrightstown Tigers.
BOYS TENNIS
The Manitowoc Lincoln Boys Tennis Team will finally open its season as they travel to Pulaski to meet the Red Raiders.
Paige Cotton makes her head coaching debut for The Ships. She’s also served as an assistant on the girls’ team with Stephanie Henschel. The other boy’s tennis match has Roncalli/Manitowoc Lutheran hosting Ripon at Lincoln Park.
TRACK AND FIELD
In co-ed track and field, Two Rivers, Sheboygan Falls, and New Holstein head to Brillion for an EWC Quadrangular, while Roncalli, Kiel, and Chilton head to Valders for a separate EWC Quadrangular, and Oostburg hosts a multi-school meet at Kohlbeck Field that includes Manitowoc Lutheran, Sheboygan Christian, Cedar Grove-Belgium, and Ozaukee.
BOYS GOLF
All Big East boys golf teams gather at Riverdale Country Club in Sheboygan for a mini-meet beginning at 2 p.m.
