Three students at Manitowoc Lutheran High School brought home the gold at a statewide economics competition.
Makiah Krause, Evelyn Overland, and Sandra Waak competed against eleven top teams from across the state in the prestigious Junior Achievement of Wisconsin Statewide Stock Market Challenge, and bested every one of them.
As state champions, the students and Business Club Advisor Mr. Nathan Gurgel have earned the right to represent Wisconsin at the national Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge in Boston this July.
The JA Stock Market Challenge is described as a high-intensity, live simulation in which high school teams manage a mock investment portfolio over a simulated 60-day market period.
Mr. Gurgel praised his team, saying, “Makiah, Evelyn, and Sandra demonstrated exceptional teamwork, critical thinking, and financial acumen under pressure. We are incredibly proud of their success and look forward to competing at the national level.”
