Lakeland University has honored one of its students’ academic excellence.
The University has announced that senior Lauryn Johnson has won the 61st annual Clarence H. Koehler Award.
This award is handed out by Lakeland each year as the university’s top academic award for one undergraduate student who best exemplifies “The Lakeland Spirit.”
This is achieved, of course, through continued achievement in the classroom as well as participation in and support of the university’s programs and activities.
Johnson, a criminal justice major from Kenosha, said about her academic and personal journey at Lakeland, “I came to Lakeland shy, reserved, and isolated, and I will be leaving Lakeland confident, fearless, and ready for what is to come. Lakeland opened the door and paved the way for me to be a successful individual in society.”
Outside of her academic prowess, Johnson was a four-year member of the Muskie women’s basketball team, co-chair of Lakeland’s Blue and Gold Awards, and a member of the Black Student Union.
Other finalists for the award included Serena Brunner, Oliva Heling, Lizzy Hockenhull, Grace Rohde, Sarah Stege, and Caedyn Wingrove.
