Solid pitching and explosive bats help the Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team claim both ends of a doubleheader against Wausau East over the weekend.
The Ships hosted the Lumberjacks at Bruce Steinbecker Field on Saturday, scoring a total of 23 runs across both games.
Nick Braun may have only had one hit in the opener, but he made it count, driving home 4 runs between his triple and a walk.
Benson Dickrell also drove in a pair, while Gabe Eichman, Brett Danielson, Cam Shilts, Nick Minikel, and Bently Hendrickson also recorded RBIs.
Minikel also pitched the five-inning shutout, striking out 5 batters en route to a 13-0 win.
In the nightcap, the Wausau East bats came alive, albeit for a short amount of time.
The Lumberjacks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, only for the Ships to counter with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
The Ships went on to win 10-4 thanks to a 3 RBI performance at the plate by Hendrickson.
Minikel also drove home a run and scored twice as a part of a 3-for-3 game at the plate, with the other runs coming off the bats of Cade Grapentine, Eichman, Bennet Johnson, and Jace Jaschob.
The wins bring Lincoln back to an even 4-4 record ahead of a road contest this evening in Fond du Lac.
