A house fire in Fond du Lac has left a family without a home.
The Fond du Lac Fire Rescue Department was called to the Brooke Street Loft Apartments at 5:45 Friday evening (April 17th) on a report of a fire in one of the units.
Responding firefighters were informed that a child was still inside, and they quickly gained entry and began searching for the victim.
The child was located and turned over to paramedics for evaluation, along with one adult female. Neither individual required hospitalization.
The fire was determined to have started in the kitchen area, but the cause is still under investigation.
While the entire building was evacuated and a significant portion of the structure required ventilation, the majority of the damage was limited to the affected unit.
The family was displaced, as it was determined that the unit was uninhabitable.
