One person is in custody after an altercation involving a machete.
Manitowoc Police were called to the 900 block of Jay Street at approximately 12:30 p.m. Thursday (April 9th) for a weapons complaint.
The caller told police that a 31-year-old Manitowoc man threatened to kill him while brandishing a machete.
The victim was at the residence to fix a faulty electrical outlet when the 31-year-old told them that they “should not be inside the apartment.”
The suspect then proceeded to grab an airsoft gun and a large machete before telling the victim that they were going to kill them and cut their head off.
The 31-year-old then fired the airsoft gun at the floor and waved the machete through the air while blocking the entrance to the apartment.
Eventually, the victim was able to exit the apartment and call police while the suspect began stabbing and hitting furniture with the machete.
After making contact with all those present at the time of the incident, the victim’s story was corroborated, and the 31-year-old was taken into custody on charges of Second-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety with the Use of a Dangerous Weapon and Disorderly Conduct.
