A local conservation group has been awarded by the Wisconsin Wildlife Foundation (WWF).
The Manitowoc County Fish and Game Protective Association was awarded as the Local Conservation Organization of the Year for 2026.
The WWF says it has been a pillar of conservation, advocacy, and community engagement in Wisconsin for more than a century.
Manitowoc County Fish and Game comprises 23 affiliated clubs and provides a strong, unified voice for conservation and sporting traditions in the region.
The WWF also noted that the conservation group has helped develop and maintain public access to 19 county lakes and Lake Michigan, improved piers, and supported habitat and lake improvement projects.
The state organization also noted the Fish and Game’s partnerships with the Wisconsin DNR, Conservation Congress, and local stakeholders.
President Dan Dufek was on hand to receive the award during the WWF’s Annual Conservation Awards and Banquet.
