A Manitowoc County fire chief showed his support for a new bill signed into law.
Valders Fire Rescue Chief Christopher Dallas was on hand when Governor Tony Evers signed Assembly Bill 181, now known as Wisconsin Act 212.
The bill is called a vital step toward strengthening emergency medical services and protecting community health.
Valders Fire and Rescue says by allowing regions to exceed outdated levy limits when necessary, the measure ensures EMS providers have the resources to maintain staffing, upgrade equipment, and respond quickly in life-threatening situations.
Fire Chief Dallas supported the bill and testified about the real-world challenges EMS agencies face under current levy limits.
He emphasized that without greater funding flexibility, departments risk staffing shortages and delayed response times that can put lives at risk.
The department finishes saying that with the bill becoming law, communities like Valders can continue delivering reliable, high-quality emergency care.
