A shooting near UW Oshkosh landed a 17-year-old in the hospital.
The Oshkosh Police Department received multiple reports of gunshots in the area of McKinley Avenue and John Street just after 7:00 Saturday evening.
Officers were already in the area due to an ongoing pub crawl, and they also heard the shots.
A 17-year-old Oshkosh resident was found to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
A search for the suspect was quickly initiated as deputies from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, officers from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Police Department, and troopers from the Wisconsin State Patrol all came to assist.
A suspect was seen attempting to drive away from the area just before 8:00 p.m., and a high-risk traffic stop was conducted at Jackson Street and Irving Avenue.
The 23-year-old Omro man was taken into custody without incident.
The investigation remains active, and criminal charges are pending.
