A child in Appleton was cited after they were seen carrying a fake gun near a school.
The Appleton Police Department responded to a report of a juvenile with a gun near an unspecified school last week and quickly located the individual.
The juvenile was no longer in possession of the firearm, so a search was initiated.
With the help of K9 Drakon, the rifle was located, and it was determined to have been a realistic-looking imitation firearm that had been hidden nearby.
The juvenile, whose name and age were not given, was cited for displaying a facsimile firearm within 500 feet of a school.
The Appleton Police Department did note that the incident occurred during non-school hours.
