The man charged in the killing of 25-year-old Jaisiah Owens in Manitowoc last year will be headed to trial later this year.
The trial for 21-year-old Kirk Alex Dunn has been scheduled for November 16th through November 20th in Judge Anthony Lambecht’s courtroom.
Kirk was arrested shortly after a gunfight at an apartment complex on Dewy Street in September.
Dunn has claimed that he shot Owens in self-defense and that Owens was coming after him.
Ownes was taken from the scene to a separate home with injuries to his abdomen and leg, and would later pass away on South 17th Street.
Dunn is facing charges of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide and 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, both with Use of a Dangerous Weapon modifiers, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
Dunn is due back in court on July 10th for a motion hearing.
