Three more bills authored by Senator Andre Jacque have been signed into law.
Governor Tony Evers enacted Act 204, which extends the window in which parents can apply for open enrollment to within 90 days of receiving military orders.
The new law was requested by the U.S. Department of Defense and also clarifies that the open enrollment policy also applies to military orders from National Guard and reserve units from any state.
Another measure aimed at helping our state’s heroes is Act 207.
This new law expands eligibility for displaying one’s veteran status on Wisconsin driver’s licenses and identification cards.
Sen. Jacque tells SeehaferNews.com, “Over the years, I have spoken with many veterans who have expressed frustration with the lack of clarity on what the qualifications are for obtaining a veteran status designation on a driver’s license, and why their honorable service did not meet the criteria.”
Lastly, Gov. Evers signed Act 202, which requires school districts to provide age-appropriate instruction on adoption.
Sen. Jacque says this change will “give students a greater understanding of the full range of supports and options available to both parents and children in Wisconsin.”
