A film made in Wisconsin and starring an actor from Valders is coming to Manitowoc.
Winter Hymns, a film written and directed by Nathan Deming, will be coming to the Mikadow Theater on Friday, April 24th, with showings at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
The film is set over the course of a single winter day in a lone hospital room and follows a care physician as she meets ten terminal patients and their families.
Valders Thespian Bernard Starzewski plays a terminally ill farmer in the picture.
Conversations regarding faith, regret, and love take on an unexpected intimacy as the doctor guides them through “the care that doesn’t cure.”
Winter Hymns features other midwestern talents from the American Players Theater and a real-life dairy farmer from Bloomer, Wisconsin, named Thaddeus Sykora.
The movie has also had sold-out screenings at the 2026 Wisconsin Film Festival.
Tickets are now available to see the movie on the movies-and-dinner webpage at mikadow.com.
