The Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team kicked off its conference schedule with a pitchers’ duel at Notre Dame.
A pair of runs in the 2nd inning were enough for the Ships, who held on to take down the Tritons 2-1.
Bennet Johnson got the start on the mound, recording 6 strikeouts in the first four innings, while allowing the sole Notre Dame run.
Sophomore Nick Minikel came on to record the save, striking out 5 batters and allowing 0 runs in the final 3 innings of play.
Despite the win, the Ships struggled at the plate, striking out 11 times.
The Ships are now 1-1 on the young season, and are next slated for a doubleheader on Saturday, as they travel to Sheboygan North.
