
Today is the 2026 Spring General Election.
There are several contested races on the ballot.
At the state level, the big race is for a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court with Judge Chris Taylor facing off against Court of Appeals Judge Maria Lazar.
There is also one candidate running uncontested for a seat on the 2nd District Court of Appeals, which covers Manitowoc County.
Anthony LoCoco looks to take the spot.
In Manitowoc County, every seat is up for the County Board of Supervisors, but only three are contested.
In Supervisory District 5, William Debaets is running against Jill Ann Pope to fill the seat left by Tyler Martell, who is running for Manitowoc County Executive uncontested.
Another race is in District 20, where incumbent Lee Englebrecht is seeking re-election against challenger Andrew Schwerma.
Finally, in District 16, Dillon Meisnest and Brad Busse are running for the seat left by Leo Naidl, who is not seeking reelection.
In the City of Manitowoc, there are five seats up for grabs, with two being contested. In District 6, Incumbent Eric Sitkiewitz is looking to keep his seat as he faces off against Benjamin Hilburger, while in District 5, Mason J. Benzinger is looking to take the seat from Incumbent William Debaets.
Races in Districts 4, 8, and 9 are uncontested.
In Two Rivers, five candidates are running for three seats on the City Council. Incumbents Darla LeClair, Adam Wachowski, and Bonnie Shimulunas are looking to keep their seats as they face challengers Katherine Dahlke and Shawntel Hoffman.
In the City of Kiel, there is a race in Aldermanic District 4, with Cory Wilkens facing Jason Nett, both looking to fill the vacancy left by former alderwoman Kathy Schutte.
Other races in the aldermanic districts 2 and 6 are uncontested.
The polls open (ed) at 7:00 a.m. this morning and will remain open until 8:00 p.m. tonight.
