A Manitowoc man charged with threatening another person with a handgun has entered his plea and gotten his charges amended.
37-year-old Daniel Meuret has pleaded not guilty to two charges, including battery with use of a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct with a domestic abuse enhancement.
However, they are now misdemeanor counts after he was first charged with felonies in the February incident.
A large number of Manitowoc Police Officers were called to a weapons complaint, and later set up a perimeter in the area of Columbus, South 17th, and South 15th Streets as the officers attempted to locate the Meuret.
Officers say the 37-year-old did not respond to their commands, but he later exited without further incident after police used the victim’s cellphone.
The victim says Meuret woke up angry and pointed the “dangerous end” of a handgun at their head.
The 37-year-old suspect will return to court on May 15th for further proceedings.
