The attorney for a Nekoosa man charged in the death of a Wood County man still needs more time to look through the evidence.
FOX11 reports that 19-year-old Ji-Gwe-Mko Layton was back in Brown County Court for a status conference, where his attorney asked for more time as she is still getting evidence.
Judge Timothy Hinkfuss set another status conference for June 26th.
Layton was arrested along the Highway 172 ramp near Ashwaubenon in August last year after police were called for a pickup truck that had gone into a ditch.
Eyewitnesses say he fled the scene with a rifle before police saw the 19-year-old and arrested him.
A criminal complaint alleges that Layton admitted to shooting the 60-year-old man in the head before the truck veered off the highway and came to rest in a ditch.
The complaint also says the man died from multiple gunshot wounds.
