A former teacher at Plymouth High School facing child sexual assault charges may be heading towards a plea deal.
Court documents show that 43-year-old Marcie Zimmerman was back inside a Fond du Lac County courtroom this week for a status conference as she faces two counts of Sexual Assault of a Student by School Staff, two counts of Sexual Intercourse with a Child 16 or Older while 19 or Older, and one count of Exposing a Child to Harmful Material.
At Monday’s (March 30th) hearing, Judge Laura Lavey scheduled a plea and sentencing hearing for August 11th, signaling a plea deal could be reached since Zimmerman previously pleaded not guilty to all the charges she faces.
The 43-year-old was arrested in August by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office after an investigation revealed that she had allegedly sexually assaulted and raped a since-graduated Plymouth student.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Zimmerman, who taught in Sheboygan County, committed these alleged crimes within Fond du Lac County, where she resides.
If a plea deal is not reached, Zimmerman’s three-day jury trial will begin on October 6th.
