The City of Two Rivers is making some progress with harbor dredging.
In an update on their Facebook page, city officials say they met with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District, for a status update.
The Corps confirmed that they’ve received Wisconsin congressional inquiries highlighting the project’s urgency, and that they will send a crew to Two Rivers this month to conduct an updated harbor survey.
The analysis will assess sediment conditions and any changes following the historic mid-March snowstorm.
Two Rivers has also been moved to the top of their priority list for projects awaiting federal funding.
Although the project is tentatively scheduled for 2028, there could be a pathway to 2027 dredging, but it will depend on the April findings and the inclusion of funding in the federal budget.
Two Rivers officials then encourage residents and small businesses to reach out to their elected officials, such as Sixth District Congressman Glenn Grothman and Senators Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin, to underscore the project’s importance.
