As we enter the second week of spring, health officials in Sheboygan are offering tips to combat seasonal ailments.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health is looking to help residents who suffer from springtime allergies and asthma.
First and foremost, residents are highly encouraged to use asthma and allergy action plans and consistently use their doctor-recommended medications.
Equally, they are recommended to learn about and know what their seasonal triggers may be such as weeds, grass, pollen, and molds.
To that same note, residents are also encouraged to watch local weather forecasts or check pollen-count specific outlets and stay inside with windows shut, utilizing air conditioning during times when pollen counts are at their highest.
For cleanup purposes, those with asthma or seasonal allergies should also vacuum and dust regularly and utilize a clothes dryer in lieu of a clothesline.
Lastly, the Division of Public Health in Sheboygan County also urges vulnerable residents to garden wisely, meaning they should avoid leaf piles, exposure to fertilizers and pesticides, and have someone else mow their lawns.
