The calendar may say it’s April, but as we all know, Wisconsin weather is about as fickle as it gets in the United States.
Case in point, the National Weather Service in Green Bay has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Manitowoc County and all northeast Wisconsin from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday (tomorrow) morning for accumulating freezing rain, sleet, and snow that will impact the morning commute.
This combination, along with gusty northeast winds, will likely result in power outages and broken tree limbs, especially north and west of the Fox Valley, where significant ice and sleet accumulations are expected.
In addition, warmer air will quickly move back into the area, mixing with the departing colder air aloft, which will produce thunderstorms late Thursday afternoon and evening, some of which may be strong to severe, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.
Meanwhile, another significant system late Friday into Saturday will bring thunderstorms with heavy rainfall to the Lakeshore, and a wintry mix is likely across northern Wisconsin, which will impact travel at the beginning of the weekend.
