An Eastern Wisconsin Senator’s bill aimed at giving additional protections to first responders has been signed into law.
Governor Tony Evers signed Act 145, which is Sen. Andre Jacque’s bill to extend PTSD coverage to volunteer and part-time firefighters and other emergency first responders.
Two sessions ago, Wisconsin enacted 2021 Act 29, authored by Sen. Jacque, to provide PTSD workers’ compensation coverage for law enforcement and full-time firefighters.
The New Franken legislator has been working since then to expand that coverage to all first responders.
Sen. Jacque tells SeehaferNews.com, “Responding to a horrific accident or medical emergency can result in long-term trauma for those involved. But post-traumatic stress can be treated very effectively, allowing those affected to receive healing and return to protecting and serving the public.”
