The Manitowoc Police Department has released more details on the incident involving the County SWAT team.
Officers were dispatched to a local hospital at 12:30 Sunday afternoon on a report of an individual who was hospitalized after a domestic violence incident.
The victim told police that they had been arguing with a 42-year-old man in a residence in the 3100 block of Expo Drive.
The man accused the victim of cheating on him, which they denied.
This caused the suspect to get physical, throwing them to the ground, dragging them by the hair, and grabbing them around the neck with both hands.
The man reportedly threatened to kill the victim, causing them to pass out.
When the victim woke up, they attempted to leave, but the suspect pushed them back to the ground, attacked them with a broken table leg, and threw a steak knife at them.
Then, he grabbed a rifle and shot it in the victim’s direction.
He then told the victim they had five seconds to leave or he was going to kill them.
The man was taken into custody by the Manitowoc County SWAT team, and Detectives interviewed the man at the Manitowoc County Jail.
He admitted to discharging the weapon, but claimed the injuries were from rough sex and were consensual.
The man has been charged with 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Disorderly Conduct, Substantial Battery, Strangulation, and Criminal Damage to Property.
