The City of Manitowoc will begin construction for a park and beach expansion project at one of its busiest beaches.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the beach expansion project will be held tomorrow (April 1st) at Red Arrow Park, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
It includes accessibility improvements, including accessible ramps for people with disabilities, and new stairs from the parking lot to the pedestrian path.
Plans also include a new pavilion area for performances or events, with stone seating.
There would also be a parking lot, and the road changes: the traffic route in the area would turn into a one-way curve by the playground at the park, and the road by the Veterans Memorial would be one-way.
The city has received grant funding for the over $1 million project. $500,000 will also be matched by the city as part of a grant.
