Manitowoc Public Utilities has announced the date that the winter disconnection moratorium will come to an end.
Customers with past due balances could face disconnection starting on April 15th unless payments are made to clear the past due amounts or payment arrangements are established.
Residential customers who have not paid during the winter could also be required to pay a security deposit equal to their highest four consecutive bills to avoid disconnection.
It is important for customers to review their billing statements as disconnection notices are printed on the front.
MPU is also warning residents that scammers use this time of year to target customers with threats of disconnection.
MPU customers should always remember that they will never solicit payment through the use of a prepaid card or wire transfer.
Energy Assistance is still accepting applications from income-qualified applicants.
For more information on the program, contact the Energy Assistance office at (833) 646-0823.
Customers who have questions on their billing statement, or would like to see if they are eligible for a payment arrangement, are encouraged to call MPU at (920) 683- 4600 during normal business hours of 8:00 to 4:30 p.m.
